Contemporary Art
Contemporary Art, according to the dictionary, is an art of today, produced by artists who are living in twenty-first century. Contemporary art provides an opportunity to reflect on society and the issues relevant to ourselves and the world around us.
Contemporary Art took shape during the 1970s and is perhaps an offspring of modern art, which ruled for over a century. Contemprary art forms take several shapes—from paper and color art to various other means of self-expression. I prefer painting as a means of expressing my inner feelings.
Some one says very nicely that contemporary art is more than beautiful objects, images, poetry or music. Is it taking paper, forms, images, words, sounds, colour, light and ideas and just transforming into art on paper or canvas? More than that. I believe it is transforming one's inner feeling into an art form.
This creativity comes from core of our heart.
Art is soul-stirring, harmonious blend of colour, shape and texture that endeavours to present ideals to stimulate the thoughts and emotions of viewers. May be its based on current affairs, may be it is a problem, but one can do the colour combination and shapes engage the viewers aesthetic sensibilities in different art forms.
Albert Einstein says a beautiful thing: ‘I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited while Imagination encircles the world.
We came to Bangkok sometime ago. My husband, Pratap Bose, works as an Agronomist in Pepsico. I have two wonderful children, and both are studying. I am devoted to Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. My guru is Swami Bhuteshanandaji Maharaj. I work at NMV, Bangkok, and am attached to certain NGOs.
My hero and ideal is Swami Vivekananda.
Please read about my research work here. Apart from my deep involvement in Contemporary Art, in the past I have worked on other forms of art. My deep interest in one of the most ancient art forms of Orissa, India, called Patachitra art. Sri Jagannatha, the Lord of the Universe, has been depicted in this ancient form of art in a village called Raghurajpur. I have done research on that.
I have also done research on Puranas and have shown that Puranas are not just mythological stories but living, vibrant histories.
I am now studying Ramayana and its influence on world culture.
